Seafish was founded in 1981 by an Act of Parliament and is the public body that supports all sectors of the £10bn UK seafood industry for a profitable, sustainable and socially responsible future. It is the only pan-industry body offering services to all parts of the seafood industry, including catching and aquaculture, processors, importers, exporters, and distributors of seafood, and restaurants and retailers.

Seafish is funded by a levy on the first sale of seafood landed and imported in the UK. It aims to support and improve the environmental sustainability, efficiency and cost-effectiveness of the industry, as well as promoting sustainably-sourced seafood.

Its vision is of a thriving seafood industry and its mission is ‘Seafood is the way forward.’

Koppert Cress specialises in cresses; seedlings of unique plants, which each have their own specific effect on the senses. Flavour, fragrance, feel or presentation, there is a cress for all. And the assortment is widening. Every year at least one new item is added to the collection of Micro-vegetables. A collection, which is presented as ‘Architecture Aromatique’. 

The end users of the products are mainly chefs, restaurants, caterers, hotels and food services. Reliable supply of the fresh and tasteful ingredients allows chefs to be creative and surprise their guests.

Oak Ridge Hotels’ director Ashley Lidgard is one of the founding creators of the competition, and ever since he has supported the event by hosting finalists within one of his award winning hotels.

As part of the prize when awarded, a place at the finals includes a nights stay where the gala dinner will be held.
