Junior Seafood Chef of the Year
Are you passionate about food and looking for an exciting team challenge? Enter the Junior Seafood Competition – a fantastic opportunity to showcase your skills, creativity, and teamwork in a professional kitchen setting!
Who can enter?
The competition is open to aspiring teams of young chefs and restaurateurs looking to prove their talent in a high-energy competition. Your team must include three students, made up of the following roles: 2x Budding Chefs and 1x Front of House Assistant. You must be in Year 9 or Year 10 to enter.
The theme
This year, the competition is based around the theme, “A celebration of Grimsby Seafood“.
The Challenge
Create and serve a two course seafood menu. The menu must include a starter and main course for two diners and work with a budget of £20 per head (£40 per team).
Teams have three hours to prepare, cook and serve their dishes.
The cook-off will take place at the UK Seafood School, Grimsby Institute, on Friday 14th November.
A panel of top chefs and industry professionals will assess taste and presentation, creativity and theme interpretation, teamwork and hygiene and front-of-house service quality.
